Month of Poetry 2: The Commute

The Commute

Morning train is full
of half-wakers
day-planners
on-travellers
stair-climbers
presenter-practisers

Off-peak train is scattered
With movie-goers
Picnickers, grandparents
Engineers in the making
Window-watchers
Snack-nibblers
Job-chasers
exam-crammers

Evening train is full
Of dozers and leaners and cleaners
New-daters
be home-by-eighters
Phone plan callers, overdue bill-stallers
Cricket bag luggers and shopping bag huggers

There is no time to waste
on this journey
in or out
only stories to make
